I moved to Salt Spring Island in 1990 when our family situation allowed us to make plans for a rather less hectic life style.
I am an experienced realtor, who won the coveted "Award of Excellence" while working in Vancouver and Victoria for one of the national real estate firms. A former R.N. with wide administrative experience in the health care field as Chair of a hospital board and later as president of the B.C. Hospital Association, I have welcomed the opportunity to become involved in, and contribute as a volunteer to many of the health care and other functions on the island.
After obtaining my real estate sales license in 1986, I attended the University of British Columbia and earned my Agent 9.15 license in 1989.
I bring both a sound knowledge of the local real estate market and a realistic and common sense approach to peoples' wants and needs. Through my wide experience in relating to people in many different situations I will help you meet your real estate requirements while facing the realities of whatever your circumstances may dictate.
I am proud to be working with the Pemberton Holmes real estate firm as Managing Broker of the Salt Spring Island office. Home and community have been the focus of my life's direction and pleasure. I grew up in a large family in a rural community of Quebec's Eastern Townships, where I gained experiences and responsibilities that cultivated my involvement in the helping professions. So it was that I was drawn to pursue studies and work in adult education, community economic development and real estate.
This appreciation of community was also influential in the decision I made with my husband to move to Salt Spring Island several years ago. We discovered this island with its stunning natural beauty, robust entrepreneur activity, vibrant culture and strong sense of community. Moreover, we encountered a population of interesting, engaging and conscientious citizens.
Because I recognize the importance of lifelong learning, I became involved in establishing and coordinating the Salt Spring Island Society for Community Education, and acting as a board member.
My career in real estate on Salt Spring Island followed many years in adult education in both the private and public sectors. My experience in training and development, teaching, researching and working with community groups have contributed to skills that support my work in real estate.
From the start, I chose to work as a member of a team, and am fortunate to work in partnership with my colleague, Phyllis Bolton, who is respected for her years of experience in real estate and as an active member of this community. Phyllis and I know that, together, we can offer a superior service by combining our knowledge, skills, abilities, resources and time. In the end, it is the client who benefits.
